What is the difference between Reiki and Animal Reiki training?

Whilst Reiki to me is the same universal infinite unconditional loving light energy as Animal Reiki the way that Animal Reiki Practitioners get to share it with animals of all species does differ from people Reiki sessions and consequently so does the training.

Animal Communication, Behaviour and Body Language

As animals communicate in a very different way to our spoken human communication Animal Reiki Practitioner Training gets to include a good understanding of how animals communicate as a species with additional awareness of breed and of course unique individual variations.

Animal Reiki training I believe gets to also include awareness of animal behaviour and body language because this is the only tip of the individual animals emotional iceberg and overall holistic wellbeing that we get to see (unless you're also an animal communicator) which is in addition to standard Reiki training which mainly focuses on awareness and sharing/channelling the energy with people.

Safety, Legislation and Legal Requirements

By understanding what an animal's specific movements and sounds mean can hugely support the Animal Reiki Practitioner to help the animal and their guardians or companions to the very best of their ability whilst also keeping everyone safe.

It is important for the Animal Reiki Practitioner training to share a good up to date understanding and overview of the key welfare levels of animals, red flag health and safety details and how to report any concerns that they have as appropriate.

Animal Reiki training will also cover the best practices of how to work with animals safely both in person and distantly which will differ slightly from Reiki training for people clients only.

Animal Reiki Practice

Given that the clients will be animals the Animal Reiki training will consist of practice sessions with a range of animal species other than people to support the trainee to gain confidence and appropriate Animal Reiki Practitioner practice.

This will also give them the opportunity to practice initially only offering the Animal Reiki and noticing whether the individual unique animals chooses to receive it in that moment, at a later time or not at all.

This choice is one of the significant differences between Reiki and Animal Reiki training and sessions as it is usually a person that requests the Animal Reiki Session rather than the animal itself (aside from when an Animal Communicator receives the request directly from the animal).
